Bright Nails are uncoated nails, susceptible to rust and corrosion, not used for exterior work.

In electro galvanised nails - the coarse zinc particles in the galvanised coating cling more tightly to whatever they're fastening and offer some corrosion resistance. Consequently, they perform well for attaching parts of house trim, decks, stairs and window frames.

Hot dipped galvanised nails are passed through a bath of molten zinc and have a heavier coating of zinc than electro-galv nails. They have a stronger barrier against corrosion so can be used outdoors in non-coastal areas.
